“Biased” by Serena's Daydream Write Date: August 2021 Some Background: Previously- This past month I’ve been busy taking a class on songwriting with some basics in production. I created three different songs, that are basically rough demos. I decided that since the class is over I would post them! Check out the other songs I did called, “Moment” and “Among Us.” This was the last song I worked out. I wanted to experiment with something SUPER out of my comfort zone. I don’t do cutesy well, and thought I’d give it a try. The things I write aren’t so happy and boppy, and my voice doesn’t really fit the vibe. But, I did my best! I was super inspired by BTS, as I have been a big fan of theirs. My mom is a new ARMY, and I recently ran into a couple of other K-Pop stans while performing at my local mall. This song was inspired by them and by my love of the boys. It was a total coincidence that I took this class, but the timing worked out. Even though it still needs a lot of work, I’m happy to dedicate it to ARMY and the boys. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY JK!) The class was a meaningful experience for me. I learned a lot about bettering my songwriting and basics in music production. I still need a lot of work on the production side, and I’m hoping to learn more in the future. I think you can tell just how far I came in a month with these songs. I’m happy with the work. We will see if I ever come back to them. Check out the other song I did called, “Moment.” This is the second song I made for my class. I wanted to experiment with a different, darker sound. Something Billie Eilish-like. I had done the lyrics while I was in the car coming back from my cousin’s engagement party. I didn’t get too much time to work on it, since it was in the middle of a couple of busy weeks. “Moment” by Serena's Daydream Write Date: August 2021 Some Background: This past month I’ve been busy taking a class on songwriting with some basics in production. I created three different songs that are rough demos. I decided that since the class is over I would post them! This was the first song I worked on. I fiddled with Logic for a while and already wrote the lyrics the night before my class officially started. You can tell it’s very beginner, but I’m still proud of the work I did. I don’t know if I’ll ever come back to it. It’s a nice song. And, I’m proud of working hard to get better at doing what I love. Lyrics: It started with a crash. Updated Cover of “Medicine” by the 1975 Favorite Line: “I adore you. That’s all I have to say.” Why I Like It: I love how simple this song is. It is something I would want to slow dance to with my future partner. I always picture myself dancing in the kitchen with someone when I hear a good song. If I can’t do something like that to a song, then I usually skip it. I also got to see this performed live when they went on tour a few years ago. That concert was a religious experience. I had a class that started around 6:30, so I was usually driving during golden hour. I would take this back way, that wove through a bit of the countryside. It was one lane going each way. I would listen to this song while driving to my class. I remember one time I saw a few deer snacking on some grass while sitting at a light. There were quite a few places with cows, and they didn’t quite blend in with the longhorns. I also would drive by a horse sanctuary and a farm that had two llamas. The horse sanctuary would put little sweaters/blankets on them in the winter. The llamas would always be lying down with their heads straight up. It looked like they didn’t have legs. But, I found out, they are like donkeys/mules. Favorite Line: “At least they’ve got something to say.” Why I Like It: I jam to this song in my car… a lot. It’s super underrated. It came up on my Spotify discover playlist, and it’s been in rotation ever since I heard it a few years ago. I always come back to it. I love the sound of it. First Draft of Who Are You by Serena's Daydream Write Date: February 2021 Some Background: I wrote this the day before I recorded, and thought I would try to record a version to post. I'll make another once I decide on the words and clean it up more. Recently, I've had a ton of inspiration. I've got so many songs I need to clean up and go through. I'm forcing myself to complete them. I was inspired by the person I’ve been seeing in my dreams. They are always the same, and I remember seeing them. But when I wake up, I can’t remember how they looked. This sounds like a cliche or something, but it’s true. I have dreams where we walk and hold hands. Sometimes by the beach, a river, or in the forest on a hiking path. Sometimes we sit in a coffee shop or kitchen and laugh. Once, I even had a dream that we were walking and holding hands, but he kept wanting to do something weird with them. It frustrated me because he wouldn’t hold my hand normally. It makes me sad because recently I haven’t seen them much. If I do, it’s a sad dream. We were on a bridge, and it collapsed. We were chased by people and they got him. One of the times, they got me. I’m no dream expert, but I do want to know who I’m dreaming about. I’m pretty sure they’re a bit taller than me, have dark hair and eyes, and tattoos somewhere. That’s pretty general, but those are things I remember seeing. I don’t remember where the tattoos were or what they are. I don’t remember how their eyes looked, just that they’re dark. Title: Cover of “The Best Day” by Taylor Swift - Vocals Only Favorite Line: “Don’t know how long it’s gonna take to feel ok, but I know I had the best day with you today.” Why I like It: I cry when I sing this song. I had a hard time in middle school, so I can especially relate to the 2nd verse. I’m super close with my mom. This song hits home with me. Especially since it’s a Taylor Swift song. I never really had a lot of friends. My mom went to my first concert with me, which was a Taylor Swift concert. I’ll never forget all the times I was abandoned by others, but my family was here for me. Looking back, I was sad because I believed no one was there for me. But, I’ve always had my family. Title: Cover of “Circles by Post Malone - Vocals Only Favorite Line: “I’ll be the bad guy now, though I ain’t too proud.” Why I Like It: This is a nice song to cruise in the car to. It’s one of the first songs I play during my gigs. Everyone always asks if I’m playing Post Malone or talks about how they love that song. I can’t lie, it’s just an all-around, nice song. Cheese. *cringe* Yes, the place that Five Nights at Freddy’s is based on. It was my first job, and it paid pretty well. I was also going through a rough time and sought out comfort in alternative/punk music. This was one of the songs I would find myself jamming to a lot. At CEC, we had one of those guitar hero games right by the register. Since I worked that part of the store, I got to listen to it all the time. People would always play this song, so the machine would default to demonstrate that song when no one played it. The song relaxed me even when working in a stressful environment.
